Upgrade your ships in a variety of ways, including retrofitting your hull for extra provisions and increased defense, multiple types of ship repairs, upgradeable cannons, sails, flags, figureheads and more. Use a variety of historically accurate flags to trick your enemies, disguise your intentions, and improve the appearance of your vessel. Choose between three different ammunition types depending on your playstyle and intent; cripple opponents with the chain-ball ammunition, devastate a ship’s crew with the shotgun-like grapeshot, or send a ship to Davy Jones’s locker with the always reliable cannonball volley. Decide your enemies’ fate by showing mercy, setting ships aflame, or weaken ships then board and loot their vessel to gain gold, supplies and tradeable goods using the boarding mini-game.
